4th of July

I was on youtube for the majority of two hours until my computer decided to be a complete peice of crap and stop that site from working. I've restarted it, I've shut it down and started it back up, I've let it run its scans and downloads but youtube still won't work so I decided to come here and blog since I haven't been on in a while.

Anyway, we went camping this weekend with my aunt, uncle, and cousin (honestly I don't understand what "the fifth wheel only sleeps seven people" they didn't get!). The campground we went to was called Jellystone--yes, just like Yogi Bear--and upon trying to get reservations, Poppa discovered that they only allowed reservations for three nights instead of two.

**Random moment time: My fingers aren't listening to my brain and I can't type!!!!

Back to the subject at hand: So Poppa, Momma, Mickey and I all went up there last Thursday to find our campsite and set up. Poppa and Momma went back home because Poppa had to work on Friday, and Mickey and I stayed at the fifth wheel by ourselves. I have to say that I have never had a WORSE night's sleep in my entire life! Every fifteen minutes I was waking up for some reason. I wound up falling asleep on the couch watching RV on dvd at about 4 o'clock in the morning. Mickey woke me up when she got up for breakfast at seven. Yeah, not a fun night.

So we hung out around the campground. We played some tetherball and would have played mini golf if the damn campground didn't charge money for it. Honestly, they've already got our money, do they really need MORE!? We watched a few movies, had lunch and then I took a nap. After my nap we decided we were going to go to the pool.

Now I should mention that I had had a bad feeling all day about something I couldn't quite put my finger on. This was it.

The pool was nine feet deep, which is no big deal since I learned to swim in my high school swim class. Mickey followed me out to the deep end of the pool and I taught her to tread water. While we were in the water, close to the wall, Mickey panicked. Instead of grabbing the wall for support, she decided that I was a much better substitute and put her hands on my shoulders, pushing me underwater and only allowing herself to sink more. Let me tell you, I have never been so completely TERRIFIED in my entire life! Luckily the guy cleaning the pool pulled us out with one of the tools he used to clean the pool. I was extremely grateful, but after we got back to the trailer I couldn't help but think "what if he hadn't been there?"

(DINNER BREAK! lol)

Momma and Poppa arrived later that night with my aunt, uncle, and Kohl. I didn't have much of an apatite (?) after my little pool experience, but no one seemed to notice, and I was too embarassed about it to mention it to them. Plus, I slept better that night. You wouldn't believe how tired you get after two hours of sleep and a near death experience.

Anyway, the next day we did what Mickey and I did the day before. Playing games and such. My aunt seemed pretty down, though, but we didn't let it bother us. Tinkerbelle had to work all day that day and she and my cousin, who also had to work, came up together later in the afternoon. Then we drove to the community college outside canon city and watched the fireworks show from the parking lot, all the while listening to my aunt and cousin tell us how much more spectacular the show was several years ago when they were in St. Louis, MO. Yeah, like we care.

On Sunday, we got up early and had our second big breakfast of the weekend (normally we only have one while camping) and continued on with our fun and games. My extended family left early, and Tinkerbelle, Mickey and I went down to the pool again while Momma and Poppa packed the majority of the trailer. We came back from the pool, helped finish with the packing and headed home. Then the guy I'm dating (still trying to come up with a nickname for him!) took me to see Transformers 2. BTW, there are alot of movies coming out this year that may be worth seeing!

And that was my weekend. Not overly exciting, but I thought I should get the drowning thing off my chest.... it seems like a bad dream to me now, and I don't really believe it actually happened. I wonder if that's how it is for everyone who goes through something like that?
